Francis Polytechnic High School has provided an elite volleyball team year in and year out being apart of the East Valley League. After numerous amounts of bids in playoffs and many deep runs at the City Championship, Poly is continuing to strive for success in the CIF Division 1 playoffs for both Boys and Girls. Under new head coach Ron Cable, Poly is looking for new players to shape the program to make sure a winning tradition continues. Poly Volleyball continues to produce a number of students recognized yearly for academic excellence; many student-athletes are enrolled in college preparatory courses, advanced placement and honors classes in preparation for continuing their academic careers. It is a great amount of hard work, commitment, and dedication that it takes to be apart of the Poly Volleyball family, and we continue to strive for success. 1,2,3.... Poly, Pride, & Family!

3 Poly Girls Seniors Selected to CIF-LA All Star Match
Congratulations to Seniors Erica Magee, Ericka Tzic, and Alexis Serafin for all being selected to play in the City Section All Star game. These 3 will be representing the Valley All-Stars against the City All-Stars at Birmingham High School at 12pm located on 12/14/13.
Poly falls to Granada Hills HS in Semifinals The Poly Girls Varsity fell short to #2 Granada Hills HS in the CIF LA Div. 1 Semifinals. The match featured close games as Poly did not surrender without a fight. The 2013 Poly Girl's Varsity Volleyball Team featured their highest finish in playoffs since 2010 and sent of their home crowd with possibly the most thrilling game of the year against Narbonne HS. The 7 seniors and the whole team gave the whole school and volleyball community something to talk about and embrace with their play, and have put their mark this season. We would like to thank the fans, friends, faculty, family, and all the support the team has received this year. Great season and go Poly Volleyball!
Poly defeats Narbonne HS in a decisive Quarterfinal Matchup
The girls varsity volleyball squad pulls of a decisive 5 game win against Narbonne HS in the quarterfinals of the CIF LA Div. 1 playoffs. The team bounced back from a 25-12 and 25-22 loss in game 1 & 2 to pull of the comeback taking the next 3; 25-22, 25-20, and 15-10. The home crowd played a big advantage to the Parrots as they pulled off an emotional win for their last match in the Poly Big Gym. Next, the Parrots will face off against Granada Hills HS away on Tuesday Night at 7pm. Hope to see everyone out to support our Poly Parrots!
Poly sweeps San Pedro in the First Round
Poly girls volleyball featured a 3-0 sweep of San Pedro HS in the first round of the CIF Div. 1 Playoffs. The 25-7, 25-16, 25-20 game drew a big crowd, as the Parrots look to make a deep run in the playoffs. Now, Poly will be facing off with Narbonne HS on Thursday night at 7pm in the Poly HS Big Gym. They will be charging $5 for adults and $3 for students with ID. Hope to see everyone there to support our Poly Parrots!

Poly Girls Varsity Claims #3 Seed in Div. 1 CIF City Section Playoffs
The Parrots have been seeded #3 in the CIF Div. 1 City Section Playoffs as they face off with the #14 seed, San Pedro High School. Poly was ranked only behind number 1 seed Palisades and number 2 seed Granada Hills who the Parrots have not faced yet. Rounding out the top 6 is number 4 Carson, number 5 El Camino, and number 6 Narbonne HS. The Lady Parrots will host San Pedro on November 12th on Tuesday night at 7pm in the Poly HS Big Gym. Poly will look to make another run for the championship as they start play on Tuesday with their home crowd!
Poly FS Team wins League Championship
Congratulations to our Freshman Sophomore team who finishes league play with a record of 9-1, with their only loss coming in a 3 set thriller vs. Verdugo Hills. The team has worked very hard all year round and was able to finish as with the league championship. The FS team finished the season 9-5 overall and will finish off with the Sylmar FS Tournament which will be hosted at Polytechnic HS on November 9th.

Polytechnic Girls Varsity Reaches Finals in Sylmar Invitational Tournament
The Poly Girls Varsity team finished out their weekend at Sylmar HS on October 26th with a 5-1-1 record. The Lady Parrots played very well all day sweeping out every victory against teams such as Narbonne, Eagle Rock, Birmingham, and East Valley High Schools. The only tie and loss featured a split with Venice HS in pool play and eventually falling to Venice in the finals. Although the team fell short, they defeated two of the highest ranked teams in the City, defeating Eagle Rock and Narbonne (25-9, 25-19). Congratulations to Ericka Tzic and Erica Magee for their All-Tournament Selections. Coming up next the team will face off with Sylmar HS, November 9th for Senior Night before heading into playoffs.

Poly Varsity Falls Short to Verdugo Hills in a Tight 5 Set Match
The Poly Lady Parrots took on Verdugo Hills Oct. 17th while starting the match down 0-2 to the Dons. Poly was able to gain momentum and swing the match to game 5, until coming up short 16-14 in the decisive 5th set. Poly Varsity Defeats El Camino Real HS in Season Opener
The Poly Parrots traveled to El Camino Real HS on Wednesday to defeat the Conquistadors in straight sets. The game resulted in a 25-14, 25-14, 25-13 result against one of the top teams in Div. 1. 2013 Las Vegas High School Invitational Tournament
Congratulations to our Poly Varsity Girls Team on their 2nd Place finish in the Bronze Division of the prestigious 2013 Las Vegas High School Invitational Tournament that fielded a total of 40 Varsity Teams from Las Vegas, Utah, and California. The team battled through a tough and competitive schedule fighting their way through playoffs to defeat Rancho HS, Bonanza HS, and Cavalry HS. The team faced CIF rival Taft HS in the championship matching eventually falling to the Toreadors (21-24, 26-27) for their 2nd Place Finish. Special congratulations to Alexis Serafin as well for her hard work and excellent play throughout the tournament to earn an All-Tournament selection over the weekend. Coming up next for team is their non-league opener at El Camino Real HS on September 11 at 3:30pm.... Congrats to the whole team and the coaching staff!
Congratulations to the Poly Varsity Girls Team for placing 3rd in the Foothill Invitational Tournament Festival Division. The varsity team played a competitive schedule featuring 7 games and finishing the 3 day tournament with a 5-2 record, only falling to Burroughs high school in pool play and the semi-finals in the tournament playoffs. Also, a special congrats to the All-Tournament selections Erica Magee and Alexis Serafin for their outstanding play this past weekend. Coming up next is the Pierce Invitational Tournament on August 17th in a few weeks! Congrats to the whole team and the coaching staff!

Poly falls to Bell HS 3-1 in Playoffs
The Poly Varsity fell short to #15 Bell HS in the CIF LA Div. 1 Semifinals. The match featured close games as Poly did not surrender without a fight. With the #18 seed, the Parrots traveled to Bell HS for a 3-1 loss (25-17, 29-27, 22-25, 25-22). Sophmore Kevin Moore contributed 25 kills in the 4 set match, while Junior Aaron Chavez pitched in 14 kills as well. Although it was a tough loss, the Parrots showed a lot of fight and left it all out on the court for the tough road matchup. Poly Defeats Verdugo Hills in 4
The Poly Parrots bounced back from a tough North Hollywood defeat in league play, 2 tournaments, and a long spring break with a big victory. The defeated the Dons in 4 sets this past Thursday at home to reach 5-5 in league play. Kevin Moore and Richard Delgado both contributed 17 kills in the victory against Verdugo while Jonathan Martinez chipped in 49 assists of his own. The JV team also swept the Dons 2-0 under as they improved to 6-2 in league play while being led by freshman setter Jacob Flores. The wins for JV and Varsity mark the first victories against Verdugo Hills since 3 seasons. Coming up next, the varsity looks to finish up their tournaments with the Sylmar Invitational over the weekend. Great job by both teams!
Poly Finishes 2-Day Las Vegas Easter Invitational
Poly has just participated in the prestigious Las Vegas Easter Invitational Tournament over Spring Break weekend. The Parrots have had a tough road during the tournament as they faced 9 teams through the long 2 day tournament. The boys had finished 2-7 highlighting matches against Otay Ranch, Palo Verde, Bonanza, Sierra Vista, Basic, Liberty, and Ramona High Schools while highlighting wins against Rancho and Desert Oasis High Schools. Although the struggling record, the Parrots had played competitively while being featured in four 3-game matches. Next up for the Parrots will be their home match against their rival Verdugo Hills High School on Monday at 3:30pm!

Poly Competes in Elizabeth Invitational Tournament
The Boys Volleyball Team competed in the Elizabeth Invitational Tournament this weekend after finishing 2-2 at the end of the tournament. Poly featured wins against Locke HS & Maywood Academy as well as falling to South East HS & Elizabeth Learning Center. The Parrots finished second in their pool and were bounced by home school Elizabeth in the first round of the gold bracket. Up next for the boys is the Las Vegas Easter Invitational Tournament that they will traveling to for spring break!

Poly Handles Monroe in straight sets at Home
The Poly Parrots continued strong in league play as they swept Monroe both on JV and Varsity . Kevin Moore had a spectacular match as he posted 15 kills with only committing 1 hitting error off 20 swings. That hitting percentage of .700 is the highest this season for any player and was quite a dominant performance. Jesus Bravo added 5 kills and 3 blocks on the match while Jose Garcia provided 4 kills and 10 digs as well. The JV team also swept the Vikings 2-0 under Head Coach Sameer Nyazi. The Varsity improves to 4-4 in league play and the JV improves to 5-2! Poly faces North Hollywood away on Thursday before the team will play in the Elizabeth Tournament Saturday and will travel to Vegas for the Easter Invitational Monday and Tuesday. The Parrots Varsity has swept the Cesar Chavez Eagles this Wednesday away in league play. Richard Delgado and Kevin Moore added 10 kills in the 3 match sweep at the varsity level. This match puts the varsity at 3-3 in league and 3-5 overall and the boy JV at 4-1 in league. The boys look to keep the momentum against Grant who is now undefeated on Varsity and atop league in JV as well. Hope to see you all at Grant to support!

The Parrots Varsity has swept the Arleta Mustangs this Thursday at home in league play. Aaron Chavez posted 7 kills and 2 blocks while Kyel Clamor added 6 aces and 10 digs in the sweep. This is the second match win for the Varsity as they have dropped close 4 set matches vs. Marshall, Grant, and Verdugo Hills as well as a tough 5 set road match vs. Monroe HS. The boys look to turn a corner as they are now 2-3 in League Play. The JV match was cancelled due to power outage but they have reached a 4-2 in their first 6 matches after falling to Verdugo last week. The alumni match is set for Friday March 28th for both Boys and Girls as we hope to see you all there!
